ENS x Doma: A Unified Identity for the Internet and Web3

For decades, the internet’s naming system has been built around DNS. This is the foundation of the internet, every .com, .org, and .ai we use daily. In parallel, Ethereum built its own identity layer onchain through the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), giving rise to millions of .eth names that power decentralized apps, wallets, and onchain identities across Web3.
While ENS has offered limited DNS support in the past, the two systems have largely operated in separate worlds, one native to Web2 infrastructure, the other to Web3.
Now, through a new integration between ENS and Doma Protocol, any DNS domain tokenized via Doma can now function directly as an ENS name. This unifies DNS and ENS under one interoperable standard - in simple terms, your existing domain names can now finally serve as your identity across the Ethereum ecosystem.
The Missing Link Between Web2 and Web3
ENS has gained tremendous traction over the past few years with over 16 million active names and integrations across 800+ apps and wallets. Owning a “.eth” name became a huge cultural phenomena, especially among those interested in Web3 space. However, until now, using a regular internet domain inside ENS required a significant technical effort. Users had to manually configure DNSSEC (a DNS security feature that protects domains from attacks) and add specific TXT records - a process far beyond most users’ reach. Now, with the Doma integration, that complexity disappears.
If you hold a tokenized domain on Doma Protocol, that’s all you need. The moment it’s tokenized, it’s ready to function as your ENS name - instantly.
You can link it to your Ethereum address, add your avatar, and set it as your primary  identity across Web3 apps in just a few clicks. No scripts to run, no servers to configure, and no fiddling with managing DNS records.

Why This Matters
Doma Protocol’s mission is to bring the world’s364 million existing internet domains into Web3 in a way that’s DNS-compliant, DeFi-ready, and registrar-friendly. This new ENS integration bridges Web2 and Web3 by making it effortless for domain owners to take their names onchain and use them directly across the Ethereum ecosystem. In practice, it turns every DNS domain into a universal identifier, usable across platforms, blockchains, and generations of technology.
For developers and users, it means tokenized domains instantly become plug-and-play identities across Ethereum wallets and apps, with cross-chain compatibility extending to Bitcoin, Solana, and Avalanche and more.
For registrars, it opens an entirely new revenue stream - enabling them to offer Web3 functionality out of the box, without altering their existing systems or workflows.
How It Works
The ENS and Doma teams collaborated to extend ENS so it can recognize tokenized domains from Doma protocol in the same way it handles .eth names. When a tokenized domain is transferred on Doma, the ENS record updates automatically with no additional setup or maintenance required.
ENS has already approved the first Doma registry and is updating its app to allow users to import their tokenized domains directly. Doma completed security audits and added permission checks to ensure safety, authenticity and prevent misuse.
If you already use DNSSEC to link your domain to ENS, nothing changes. This new integration simply offers a faster and more blockchain-native path to bring your domain into Web3.

What Happens Next
The integration is already live on the public Ethereum testnet, with a mainnet rollout planned following community testing. The architecture is fully open and extensible, meaning any tokenized registry built on the Doma Protocol standard can become ENS-compatible in the future.
Tokenized domains are shaping up to be one of the most practical real-world assets (RWAs) in crypto. They’re easy to understand, globally recognized and now thanks to this ENS x Doma bridge, natively interoperable across the Web2 and Web3 ecosystems.
The web started with domains as our digital names. ENS brought that idea onchain and now Doma connects the two.
The result: one identity, everywhere.
