Doma Weekly: Building the Internet for 2026 - Product, Protocol, and Platform Progress

One Month on Doma Mainnet: Closing 2025, Building 2026

As 2025 came to a close and we stepped into 2026, our first month on mainnet was a period of hardening the platform, improving usability, and setting the foundation for scale in the year ahead.

Over the past month, the product team focused on making the Doma experience smoother, safer, and more intuitive. Across protocol, app, launchpad, and infrastructure, our priorities were clear: security, usability, and real-time market performance.

The goal was simple, make domain ownership and trading feel reliable, accessible, and ready for broader adoption.

Doma Base App Launch

To close out the year, Doma launched the Doma Names Marketplace as a Base Mini App, bringing domain discovery and trading directly into the Base ecosystem. Users can browse trending domains, place bids, and track leaderboard rankings without leaving the Base app environment.

InterNetX (IONOS Group) serves as Doma’s anchor registrar partner, enabling allowing domain inventory to be exposed onchain at scale without requiring any changes to existing registrar systems. Domains are minted on demand, traded onchain, and automatically synchronized back to registrar infrastructure.

Protocol & Smart Contract Improvements

Security and resilience were treated as non-negotiables from day one.

Over the past month, we completed all recommended fixes from a third-party security audit and added additional safeguards to ensure the protocol can respond safely to edge cases and unexpected conditions.

Emergency controls were introduced where appropriate, allowing critical actions to be paused or managed without compromising user assets.

We also upgraded how domains and subdomains are represented behind the scenes. This makes it easier to support features like trading, staking, and real-world domain functionality (such as DNS), while keeping everything consistent and secure.

At the same time, we improved the systems that power domain launches, giving us better operational control and safety checks, without changing how ownership works or reducing transparency.

Launchpad Evolution

As multiple assets went live, it became clear that launching domains needed to be scalable, intuitive, and predictable, especially for Web2 domain owners.

To support this, the Launchpad was upgraded with:

  • A redesigned launch experience that guides users step-by-step
  • Clear onboarding flows for wallet connection and funding
  • A live leaderboard that reflects real participation and engagement
  • An improved “Explore” experience with search, filtering, and sorting

These changes helped make launches more understandable, repeatable, and accessible heading into 2026.

Real-Time Trading & Market Infrastructure

Domains becoming liquid assets demands real-time responsiveness. To support this, we upgraded the following:

  • Live price and trade updates using real-time data streams
  • Auto-refreshing charts and transaction feeds
  • Default 1-day views with additional 5-day and 1-month options

These changes will allow traders to essentially trade domain tokens as easily as any other asset.

Optimizing Doma App For All Users

One of the biggest lessons from mainnet was that onboarding matters as much as infrastructure. To address this, the Doma App received extensive UX and usability improvements:

  • A redesigned wallet connection experience with greater stability
  • Support for a wide range of wallets across mobile, browser, and QR-based flows
  • Visual prompts to help users bridge funds correctly before participating
  • Portfolio filters and server-side sorting for domains, tokens, and subdomains
  • Faster, cleaner navigation across the app experience

We also introduced a “Coming Soon” section, allowing users to preview and prepare for upcoming launches, reducing missed opportunities and improving launch-day readiness.

Subdomains & DNS Functionality

Subdomains emerged quickly as one of the most active areas of experimentation.

To support this growth, we expanded subdomain capabilities at the protocol level, including:

  • On-chain minting of synthetic subdomain NFTs
  • Support for landing pages and DNS records
  • Improved handling of CNAME and DS records

Ecosystem & Infrastructure Readiness

As we closed out the year, we also invested heavily in ecosystem readiness. This included registrar integrations, certification verification, and early planning for broader chain support. Conversations with infrastructure partners helped align launch timing, liquidity access, and user discovery, ensuring that domain assets on Doma are visible, accessible, and interoperable as the ecosystem grows.

Doma Weekly Community Update

The final week of the year brought a steady mix of activity across the Doma community. Following several major launches earlier in December, many of our members spent this week checking back in, reviewing markets, and getting more comfortable with how things work beyond the initial launch phase.

Discussions centered on leaderboard mechanics and what types of activity truly count, with the leaderboard increasingly viewed as a signal of fairness rather than just competition. Importantly, these conversations were constructive and intent-driven, reflecting a community thinking critically about alignment.

Badges and recognition also surfaced as topics of interest, not because of delays, but due to a desire for clarity. Overall, the week showed a community that remains engaged, analytical, and invested in the long-term direction of DomainFi as we begin 2026.

Ongoing discussion, post-launch exploration, and peer-to-peer learning continued even during a traditionally quiet period. Newer users benefited from ongoing explanations and more experienced members contributed their knowledge.

Looking Ahead to 2026

In our first month, Doma showed that:

  • Domains can be liquid
  • Ownership can be shared
  • Value can be transparent
  • And internet assets can finally evolve beyond static ownership

As we begin 2026, our focus shifts to:

  • More premium domain launches
  • Subdomain trading and secondary markets
  • Deeper registrar integrations
  • Better storytelling around domain appreciation
  • Clear case studies showing real returns, not narratives

Domains have always been valuable. What’s new is the ability to participate in that value openly and programmatically.

As we step into the new year, we’re grateful to everyone who traded, launched, experimented, and helped shape Doma’s first month on mainnet. Here’s to building the next phase of internet ownership together.
